My Committment

I am a passionate and dedicated "hobby" dog breeder.

Although I only occasionally produce a litter of puppies I spend a lifetime looking at pedigrees, talking dogs, and learning from those in my breed and those outside it. However, I raise each litter only very occasionally and treat them as if I gave birth to them myself, and I spend an equal amount of time finding them loving forever homes. I only bring puppies into this world when I want something for myself and that I think will be the healthiest (mentally and physically) and good examples of their breed and "fit for function". I support each family who are lucky enough to choose one of my puppies and let them know they are now a part of our extended family. I am always at the end of the telephone should anyone of them need my help or advice or if one needs to come back and I will also pursue the return of one of my dogs if it is in the wrong place.

I don’t keep track of the time or money I put in to my love of dogs, it would not be a true measure of how I feel. I hold them when they arrive and leave this world as I would a child, they are my passion! I share my knowledge and socialize my dogs so that they will be the advertisement for my dedication. The price I charge for my puppies is never profit, but investment in the next generation. I will not be ashamed of who I am, I work hard at being a good dog person and encouraging others to be the same. I am a passionate and dedicated "hobby" breeder and I am proud of it.

I support my breed by working tirelessly for it, I am heavily involved in the day to day running of the Basset Hound Club of Wales - I have served the club holding the Office of Treasurer for almost 20 years and more recently Assistant Secretary. I am a member of the Educational Sub Committee responsible for arranging and holding Seminars covering all aspects of the Basset Hound. I am a Health Representative to the Basset Hound Health Group - run under the auspices of the 8 UK Basset Hound Breed Clubs, in addition I am the Chairman of Newport Gwent & District Canine Society and a committee member of the Hound Club of Wales. In my spare time I build and maintain Breed Club Websites including that belonging to the Lancashire, Yorkshire & Cheshire Basset Hound Club andthe Basset Hound Health Group website Bassetsrus and Dachshund Club of Wales - its called giving something back to the hobby which dominates my life.
